Some stories do not arrive fully formed. They murmur. They press their mouths to the inside of the mind. They ask to be given a body.
Pathways to Imagination - Whispers Made Flesh is seeking stories where the unseen insists on becoming known. Where desire, fear, memory, grief, or belief crosses a threshold and takes shape. Stories where what was once only hinted at now breathes, hungers, watches, and loves. Narratives where whispers become bodies, names become wounds, and ideas grow teeth.
We are drawn to stories that feel intimate and unsettling. Poetic but sharp. Playful in its darkness. Stories that blur genre boundaries and refuse to stay quiet.
We are especially interested in Dark Fantasy, Folk Horror, Cosmic Unease, the Surreal, Gothic, Magical Realism, or Mythic Fiction.
This is not just an open call for monster stories. We are looking for transformative stories. For that moment when the abstract decides to knock.
Submission Guidelines
We are looking for stories that are 7000 words or less. Writers of all backgrounds, skill levels and life experiences are welcome.
You are allowed to have multiple submissions, but please have each one be a new and different story. We are not interested in variations on a theme from one author.
We only accept unpublished work.
We understand the need to submit simultaneously. If you submit with us and somewhere else and they pick you up, that´s awesome. Just let us know as soon as possible. That way we can open up room for someone else.
The first page of your story must have your name, email, word count, and story title.
Stories are to be written in english.
Story format: Times New Roman, 12pt font, double spaced and pages numbered.
Pay Rates
$25 for 1000 to 3000 words
$35 for 3001 to 5000 words
$45 for 5001 to 7000 words
